Boo Boo, Jer-bear and I went on vacation. It was a vacation from work, from NYC, the news, jogging, eating in moderation, social media, cockroaches, mosquitos (I only got one bite while we were away) and also this blog! We went all the way west. Jer-bear and I both have family and friends in Portland, including one of my sisters, and my Dad, aunt and other sister all live in California, where my mom also met up with us from Kansas City.
We are back here now, with little fanfare. I already miss my family and the pace of our lives while we were away. Despite the constant packing and unpacking, going from one home to the next, cooking for many people instead of three (which is nice, especially when the other people also cook), the logistics of renting a car in LA and not having a car in Portland (pretty doable), and what to do with the damn car seat, everything was less stressful that it is here! I wonder if it’s because of where we were or because we were on vacation or because of where we were while on our vacation!
Boo Boo had a blast playing in yards and running around in houses with ample space. Each place we went to reminded me how cooped up where are here. He handled site-seeing adventures, the changes in lodging (overall we stayed in two different AirBnBs, three different houses and one apartment in five different municipalities), the different time zone, the different everything with gusto.
Boo Boo turned into a perpetual motion machine because of the space we had and his constant need to explore it. It is extremely hard to take pictures of toddlers, but I managed some. As you’ll notice, none of these pictures show his face! That’s because I want him to decide, like I got to, when and if he wants his visage broadcast on the Internet. Also it makes for a fun challenge.
