They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but I can also say that I word is worth a thousand pictures. The sum of the pictures is a story, and there is a story behind each of the words that Boo Boo has begun to say.
Take CHEESE, for instance:
Have you ever seen Wallace and Gromit? Basically Wallace is a middle-aged man and Gromit is a dog. It is a British claymation show that started in 1989. Wallace loves cheese, and every time he is about to eat some he waves his hand and announces, “Cheeeese Gromit!”
We have been giving Boo Boo cheese for a while, and hence, we’ve been using the word for a while, as in:

“Do you want some cheese?”
“Why don’t you don’t want your cheese?”
“You want more cheese?”
For him it all sounds like blah blah blah cheese blah blah blah cheese. Cheese blah blah blah?
While he didn’t understand the meaning of the words he understood the meaning of the thing. He’s known for a while when he’s about to get cheese. We’ll grab a block from the fridge, we’ll unwrap it, get out a knife, and he knows what he’s in store for. A few months ago we were going through the same routine. I opened the fridge, Boo Boo stared from his high chair, wondering what mommy would take out (Grapes? Blueberries? Yogurt and applesauce?). I pulled an unopened block from the fridge.
“CHEESE!” He said it in perfect English, very slowly, very deliberately, including all the consonants. He only lacks waving hands and a dog named Gromit. He said the word with the amount of excitement that I usually reserve for the ice cream truck,
or happy hour.
Anyway, I have never seen anyone, except for Wallace, get so excited about cheese. I will enjoy this while it lasts, which is probably until Boo Boo learns about the real purpose of the ice cream truck. Right now he thinks it’s just there to play music–his own personal DJ truck waiting on the corner, there specifically for his evening strolls.
