A Toddler’s Guide to Quarantine

My toddler has gotten the basics of quarantine down.

“Libarry closed.”

“Cafe closed.”

“Playground. Closed.”

“People coughing,” he says when asked why all his favorite places are closed. He offers a cough, for emphasis.

He can’t go to his singalongs or library readings and he can’t see his friends, but he’s doing pretty well at this quarantine business. Here are some of his favorite indoor activities, as described by him:

I enjoy using my trucks when I’m stuck inside. There’s always a good project to work on. I was told to clean up my cars so it was a good opportunity to bring out the front-loader.*

Picking up my crayons and legos is more of a job for the pick-up truck.

My animals are a lot of work and rustling up some grub always keeps me busy. I went dumpster diving at the Wal-Mart for tonight’s dinner. Just kidding!

I fed them potted pins instead.

Placing my legos on a lid is also a good pastime.

I also enjoy making abstract art. I told my mom this was a dinosaur. She asked me what kind, but I think it’s pretty clear this is a Legosaurus.

It’s always good to have your trucks in a row.

Anyway, I hope this post has been helpful. I am always happy to offer advice to my peers, and am always happy for feedback.

I also acknowledge that this post and many of my indoors activities would not be possible without the wonderful things that so many people have given me. You know who you folks are and I thank you.
